New GHSM appointment: Professor Anne Pollock to the position of Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine from June 2018

I am delighted to let you know that we have appointed Professor Anne Pollock to the position of Professor of Global Health & Social Medicine in our Department starting  the 4th of June 2018.  Anne is currently a Professor in the School of Literature, Media and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.

AnnePollockWebAs I am sure you all know, Professor Pollock is an internationally renowned scholar in the fields of science and technology studies, critical race studies, and women and gender studies.  She has published extensively in leading international journals, and is the author of the very well-reviewed book Medicating Race: Heart Disease and Durable Preoccupations with Difference.

In addition to her outstanding research profile, Anne is a highly  valued, committed and experienced teacher having taught numerous courses at postgraduate and undergraduate level.

I am sure you will all join me in extending a very warm welcome to Anne.
