Global Health & Social Medicine (formerly known as the Department of Social Science, Health & Medicine) is a unique interdisciplinary department at King’s founded in 2012. GHSM is already ranked within the top 10 of sociology departments in the UK. Its mission is to address the changing landscape of health and medicine from social science perspectives. We explore the complex social determinants of health, illness and ageing, and the relationship between advances in biomedicine and biotechnology with social and medical practices.

The Department seeks to recruit a dynamic international leader with an outstanding profile in his/her area of expertise. A proven track record of attracting research grant income is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Department’s research capacity by establishing and leading a research group that complements or extends those in the Department. The post-holder will also be expected to make a major contribution to teaching on the Department’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching programmes, and to provide academic leadership in teaching and student supervision at all levels.The person appointed will also be expected to carry his/her share of administrative duties within the Department. A commitment to collegiality is essential.

Competitive professorial salary to be negotiated, minimum £64,979 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance.

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.
