We invite applications for the post of Research Associate to participate in embedding responsible research and innovation within an exciting and innovative collaboration with synthetic biologists at Imperial College, Cambridge University, Edinburgh University and Newcastle University, which, together with King’s College London, form the Flowers Consortium.
The Flowers Consortium was awarded £5 million funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to develop an Infrastructure for Platform Technology in Synthetic Biology and the social science component of this grant focuses on responsible innovation, translation and commercialisation.
The post holder will be responsible for continuing work on our programme of responsible research and innovation, under guidance from the Principal Investigator Professor Nikolas Rose, and undertaking qualitative social science research utilising concepts and methods from social studies of science, anticipatory governance and constructive technology assessment.
The postholder will work closely with a group of other researchers working in the area of Responsible Research and Innovation in synthetic biology, neuroscience and neurotechnology.
The post is full-time and funding is currently from 1 January 2016 to 30 June 2017
The job will be based in the Department of Social Science, Health and Medicine located at the Strand Campus and will require some travel to Imperial College London, Edinburgh University, Newcastle University, and Cambridge University.
Post duration: Fixed-term contract for 18 months.
The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 6 scale, currently £32,277 to £38,511 per annum, plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum.
