The Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Policy Unit at the European Institute of Oncology and University of Milan, headed by ERC Investigator Dr Giuseppe Testa, invites applications for a postdoctoral position to investigate the societal and policy aspects emerging at the crossroad of environmental epigenomics with next-generation sequencing, cell reprogramming and big data mining.
The focus of our STS and policy unit is on participatory innovations in biomedicine and the standardization of new biomedical models, with an emphasis on the integration of ‘omic’ technologies within health care policy and the attending shifts in the notions of personalized versus precision medicine and prevention versus care across various levels of regulatory policy.
We apply a coproductionist approach to probe the symmetrical constitution of epistemic and normative orders and the mutual shaping of technoscientific and societal innovation. Within this framework, this project is part of a major EU-funded Horizon2020 network (EDCMixRisk: Integrating Epidemiology and Experimental Biology to Improve Risk Assessment of Exposure to Mixtures of Endocrine Disruptive Compounds) that combines key innovations aimed at impacting EU policy in the domain of EDC surveillance and regulation.
The candidate will be part of an already highly active STS and policy team and is expected to harness an STS repertoire of analytical skills and apply it to scrutinize the ethical, legal and political landscapes impacted by this frontier research in the context of the evolving EU policy on science, health and the environment.
Place of employment and work:
